Biography
Ann Cunningham (1921-2005) was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and spent summers at a cabin on Spooner Lake. She always loved the area.
Ann studied at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and for many years worked as a drafter and industrial painter. Ann later moved to Spooner, Wisconsin, to raise a family and live on the banks of the Yellow River.
Through her love of nature and by taking inspiring sketching trips, Ann brought about many paintings of the buildings and wetlands of northern Wisconsin. Ann’s subject matter included homes, cabins, historic sites, and businesses, but local landscapes were her favorite. Her media range included pen and ink drawings as well as pastel, watercolor, and oil paintings.
Thanks to a release from her estate, the Black Iris Gallery now displays over 80 pieces of Ann’s life work. We want to thank Ann’s son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Beverly Cunningham, for trusting the Black Iris Gallery and Custom Framing with Ann’s body of work.
At Black Iris, we sell gifts for a lifetime.
